I headed out this morning in search of some sandies. Found them buy the dam on the south west part of the lake. I then headed east along the dam and found some more schools southwest of Wynnwood park. I only got a few dozen, but it was really windy this morning and I just cant keep the jet ski in the same place.

good to see you are getting into some fish. Thanks for the report!

Are you trolling, drifting by or pulling up to a school and chunking lures? I'm also curious how you have your rod on the ski. Did you monut rod holders like on a kayak?

I search for schools and cast lures. I use a white slab with reflective stickers on the sides. I throw 1oz weight slabs so I can make up for the drifting with long casts.

I used to have a backpack that I had all of my tackle in and I strapped a pole to the side. I was getting frustrated when I would be drifting for catfish and the sandies would go into a frenzy around me and there was nothing I could do about it.

Now I have a cooler strapped to the back of the jetski with a ratchet strap. I mounted a three-rod holder to one side and have a small tackle bag strapped to the other. It makes it easy for the sandies because I dont have to stop moving, take of the back pack, strap it to the handle bars, un strap my rod, and then start fishing. By then they have usually moved on and I had to start the whole process over again. Now I can just find a school, cut the engine and reach back and pull my rod out and start casting.

Lots of people seemed to like the set up I had today, I got a few comments. Im kind of a pain among others since I drift so much, but I try to go up wind of the school so I dont drift into other people.

Reading about your jet-ski setup, I think I saw you at the cut at the old dam about a month ago. Told my Mrs., there's a guy that knows what to do with a jet-ski. Turned it into a fishin machine.

Saw a couple of Asain guys using Jet Fleas as a fishing platform last summer and though what a ingenious idea! I am kinda vaguely turning over the thought of that idea myself if I should be lucky enough to run across a good deal on a used Jet Flea in good mechanical shape.

It strikes me as just the ticket for something small and easy to transport and launch on those days when its a bit windy to be out in a Yak. It ought to be just the ticket for a 2 hour jaunt chasing schooling Sandies around after work before the sun goes down.

honestly, I wouldn't recommend it. I would jut put the money toward an older fishing boat that has a sound hull, transom and motor. It's nice to be able to get around a little faster, but you actually have more room on a kayak. I have a 1050cc jet ski that can run at over 60mph, but usually cant go more that 20-25 due to all the equipment I don't want to lose in the turbulent water.
