Some brutal conditions the first few days of the week with winds up to 30+ mph on Tuesday. Impossable to fish from the yak until Thursday and Friday. Fish were widely scattered on the flats and in no mood to bite on arties. Trout were consistant under the lights at night but mostly undersized.
Took a 12 hour offshore trip on the Kingfisher for deep dropping on Wednesday. Good quality Red Snappers came over the rail easy and then we spent the rest of the day goofing around fishing for Beeliners.
Rough seas up to 7 feet and messy but it settled down around midday. |

Wow sounds like really crappy fishing conditions for the most part. Glad you found some high lights during the vacation though and managed to get a few. Just ashame you couldnt get out on the Marsh Flats and have some prime Redfish action and get lots of pic for the rest of us to drool over.
I really miss ocean fishing like you cant believe these days now that I sorta land locked and not living on the coast like I did in San Diego. A 5 lb Bass in FW just doesnt compare to the fight and fun of a 5 lb Dorado/Mahi-Mahi in the ocean! _________________ Just making this world a better place...one bomb at a time!

Water higher then I have ever seen it. Murkey with tons of floating grass. The launch itself was about a foot thick with it. ....Nasty!
Wind was 20+ mph so I wasn't able to get very far out. Impossible to drift effectivly and no fish anywhere I could stake out. Saw a jack tear into something on the edge of the ICW and that was it for fish sign. All in all a real beating. Made that last trip on Estes with you seem like a banner day! |
