Good evening to everyone,

I launched the jet ski tonight and went to try to catch some catfish. I was only able to two spots before I had to head back (jet skis cant be out after dark). I didn't get a single bite, so the past week has been going for me.

I was hitting some of the shallow coasts with lots of vegetation. I was using Catfish Charlie's blood, and shad dip baits on a carolina rig.

I will head out tomorrow morning (weather permitting) and explore some more. I am new to this lake and am trying to find some sweet spots.

Here is a map of the lake with the spots I hit, I will update it as I hit more spots. If anyone has anything to add to the map, PM me your email address and I will add you on so you can edit it.

Blue skies and happy fishing Smile

**UPDATE**

Went out again this morning, I was able to hit a few spots before my morning was cut short. I found a deserted jet ski up on the shore east of the Lakeview Airport. I looked around and there were no footprints or signs of people, so I called the Sheriffs department and spent the rest of the morning dealing with that. It had fishing gear on it, so if anyone knows someone who fishes off of a red and blue Polaris 720, you might want to check on them. He had crappie gear with him if that helps.

Was skunked again this morning, though. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't getting discouraged, but I'll keep trying. If there is anyone out there who wouldn't mind an apprentice, I would love some tips or advice.

Ill try to go back out tomorrow morning and see if my luck (or skill) changes. I have updated the map with the places I hit as well as the general location of the deserted jet ski (I don't want people to head out there looking for a free jet ski).

Dont get discouraged Bro', they are out there. Just gotta keep hammering away at it till you find a pattern that works for you.

As for my thoughts for what little its worth...As hot as the water is right now I would be trying areas a little deeper. I would look for something like a shallow flat thats about 5-8 feet deep that drops signifacantly (ie..to 12-16 feet) pretty quickly. Whether its a drop off or a deep pool, either would likely work. If I didnt get something in about 30 minutes I would move and try a different location.

Yeah, I've been changing spots frequently, but I don't have a depth finder, so it's hard to know the topography of the lake bottom. I haven't even hit a fraction of the lake yet, so I will keep at it.

Gene Eisenmann has been gracious enough to take me out, so I will be picking his brain the entire time.

I have been drift fishing on the south side of the old dam, and usually end up with a few Blue Cat, depending on the wind, more wind, better fishing.

We latched onto a few (15) before the storm hit Saturday July3, 2010
We threw them all back, but had them in ranges from 3.5 lbs to 15 lbs.

Did the same Sunday and latched on to about the same size.

I fish off of my Pontoon, and use two drift socks. The line on the Rods are out atl east 100 - 150 yds, I have 3 heavy duty rods going. I am using Driftmaster Pro Trolling Rod holders, with the square tube rail adapters.

Thanks for the info, I will try to mimic that, although I can only do one rod at a time (certainly wont have a problem drifting, though). I am heading back out tonight to try again. I will be targeting a little deeper water. I hope to report back in a few hours with some good news, but you will hear from me either way.

I've tried those dip baits didn't have much luck, so I went to frozen shad soaked in secret 7 blood spray. I cut the shads belly open and and hook them thru the head with #6 hooks. I've had some luck at wind blown banks but had better luck just drifting out in the middle of lake in 40 foot water. Line dropped down about 30-35 feet. I had three poles out and could not keep up. LOL! One of my poles bent stright down then the drag was going hard line went our stright. I had only 10lbs line on and lost this big monster. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, I am definitely going to target deeper water. Where do you get the shad?

I got the shad at a store off 35 and at 407 exit. I think it's called Big Jacks
they have many other baits too. Also catching fresh from the lake even better if you have a casting net.

Ok, that's just down the road from me. I'm right by bass pro right now, so I'll look for casting nets there.

Thanks again for the tips
