After yesterdays action packed Sandbass adventure, I decided my rod for the ultra-light was a little lacking in backbone. So on my lunch break today I swung by Wally World in Highland Village and scoped out some rods and settled on this one.
Its a 5'6" 2 piece Light Action Spinning Rod. Its designed to use 4-8 lbs test line with 1/8th -1/4 ounce lures. It retailed for 41.99.
Didnt get a chance to actually test it out on the fish as they werent co-operating with me much today. But my fears of it being too stiff were unfounded as far as casting goes. I gave up very little in casting distance compared to the rod I was using once loaded up with 4 lbs test line with a 1/8th ounce Road Runner Jig. It definitely has a good bit of backbone to it, but a fast action tip that still lets you cast fairly light baits. Being a bit more pricey, than an Ugly Stick or Micro-Graphite, its grip is way more comfortable in hand and egronomically designed.
It should prove to be quiet the fish slaying combo this season and well worth the extra fun dollars I spent on it. I will provide an update as soon as I can catch the fish in the biting mood and let you know if it was really a step up in the right direction. _________________ Just making this world a better place...one bomb at a time!
I remember when stupidity used to hurt. There was a lot less of it back then.
