March 4:
Started off a busy weekend of fishing on Friday morning. I had Jack and Joe in the boat with me to target some blue cats. Fishing was a bit slow, but they manage to put a few fish in the boat including Joe's personal best that weighed in at 17 lbs along with about a dozen box fish for the table.

March 5th:
Ricky and his fishing buddy came all the way to Lewiville from Paducah. It was a tough bite again today, but the quality of fish was pretty good. Ricky started off the morning with a bang by landing his personal best that bottomed out my 50 lb scale. The photo really doesn't do the fish justice.

Here are a few more photos from their trip.

March 6th:
Seemed like the rain killed the bite we had the day before. Unfortunately the guys missed some good bites, but still manage to connect with a few including this one that weighed 20 lbs.

I still have some weekdays open for March and a few weekend dates and plenty of weekday openings for April. Book now for spring time action packed shallow water blue trips, and non-stop channel cat trips.

Way to Rack 'em and Stack 'em Bobby. Looks like you have had some nice days out with clients of late. Seeing post like this is killing me, I need to get out there and do some of that too!

March 10th:
Here are pics from out little Father / Son outing yesterday. The bite was good and the fish were really hammering the baits. All fish were caught on fresh shad with Dead Red Blood Spray on Team Catfish Double-Action circle hooks. Trip was a bit camera shy on the water. He reeled in most of the fish including one that weighed right at 10 lbs. I tried to get some video of the fight, but had to put the camera down and clear 4 other rods before we had an even bigger mess. He actually has a fish on in the first picture. Great times on the water!

Billy, Archie and Tom came all the way from Post, Tx to get into some blue cat action. The bite was pretty steady all morning and they called the trip after 6 hours of catching. When the smoke cleared, they had 67 fish in the box that totaled 190 lbs to show for their efforts. They also added 3 trophy fish to the day's catch that weighed 24, 12 and 10 lbs (all released). All fish were caught on fresh cut gizzard shad with Dead Red Blood Spray in what is now called "Archie's Hole". Jeff will be getting an order for several bottles of Dead Red from Archie in the next day or so. He was quite impressed on how quickly the baits that were sprayed got hit compared to the ones that didn't get the royal red treatment. Here are few photos from their trip. This was also my first trip to try out one of the Pro Angler reels from Tex. It's a great reel and performed well.

Tailgate shot:

Billy's Personal Best (12 lbs.):

Archie with a 10 lb blue:

Archie's 24 lb Personal Best:

One more of the big fish with all three fellas:

April 11th:
Gordon and Shawn joined me for a full-day instructional blue cat trip on Lewisville. We focused on shallow water patterns and techniques. We finished the day cleaning 31 box fish (120 lbs.) and released about a dozen more fish between 8 and 14 lbs. They also caught several gar, sandbass and even a soft-shell turtle. All fish were caught on fresh shad using Team Catfish gear. They also learned a valuable lesson that baits treated with Dead Red Blood Spray will often times get bit faster and more aggressivley than those that don't get the royal red treatment. Here are a few photos from their trip.

I have a trip booked with customers on Sunday morning. Not sure if I'll be able to make it out there afterwards just yet.

Lewisville April 17:

Chet, Jack and his wife Kelly got a taste of the spring time blue cat bite. Chet and Jack have been out with me twice before got to experience drift fishing in the fall, deep-water anchor fishing structure for trophy fish in the winter and now made it to spring and had one heck of a trip for the shallow water blues. Jack managed to talk Kelly into tagging along as well. She didn't have a lot of fishing experience before Saturday, but did a fine job landing fish after fish. The final count was 77 on the clicker including 6 blues that were over 10 lbs. They even had a really nice triple hook-up on three nice blues at the same time. All fish were released except for a one small blue and a few sandbass that were hooked in the gills. The fish were caught a bit deeper this time. 5-6 feet was the magic depth. Lots of birds working the water and shad popping probably had something to do with the fish being there. Had one big hybrid try to rip the rod out of Jack's hands while he was reeling in to check a bait. He had about 6 feet of line out when the fish came out of no where and ripped the shad right off the hook by the boat. All fish were caught on fresh shad using Team Catfish gear and Dead Red Blood Spray. April is just about full and still have plenty dates availble for May. Book your trip now while the fishing is HOT! Here are a few photos of their bigger fish from Saturday's trip.

I took Randy and his two sons, Ben and Ryan out for some channel cat action on Lewisville. The fish were a little slow to get going and didn't get the first fish on until all the rods were in the water for at least 5 or 6 minutes. Then it was non-stop for the next hour or so. The bite slowed down a bit and the boys were pretty worn out from a full-day at school and reeling in fish after fish. They decided to head in early to get ready for school the next day. Totals were 30 channel cats caught in about 3 hours of fishing shallow water. I think we put back 2 undersized fish and pardoned 1 or 2 others. All but three of the fish were caught on Secret 7 fished side by side with punch bait on Carolina rigs. I got my new bucket or Sudden Impact in the mail yesterday. Can't wait to give it a try this weekend.

Dave joined me for a half-day birthday catfishing trip on Lewisville. We mixed it up a bit and chased the blues for a while, then went after some channel cats. The bite was a little slow for this time of year, but still steady none the less. Big fish of the day was about 9 lbs. He finished the morning with 17 blues, 6 channel cats, several gar, one small drum, a turtle and a plastic cup. Funny story about the cup. He had several small bites on a big gizzard shad head, then a steady bouncing type bite. Looked like the fish was runnning right at the boat and just bouncinng the weight behind itself. I told him to reel down as fast as he could to catch up with the fish. Hid did exactly as instructed and the rod bowed over. I'm thinking fish on! But the fish isn't exactly fighting as expected and I begin to think turtle on instead. We were both surprised to see what he had on the end of his hook. I guess whatever was eating on the shad got thirsty and headed straight for his cup of ???. Might have been a little residue left in there from the weekend party crowd. Here are a few photos from his trip.

Mike, Steve and Chris fished a half-day meat haul trip with me Sunday morning. Despite the post front conditions and winds we found some fish that were hungry. Had to move around a few times to find, but when we did it was GAME ON! Steve had the hot hand and CPR'd 3 trophy blues between 10 and 14 lbs. Steve also got into the big fish action and landed his personal best that was about 12 lbs. The guys finished up their 5 hour trip releasing the 4 big blues and putting a mix of 56 blues and channel cats along with several sandbass. Total catch was right at 260 lbs. All fish were caught on fresh gizzard shad srayed with Dead Red Blood spray from Team Catfish fished on carolina rigs and santee-cooper rigs fished 2 to 8 feet deep.

Mike and Steve had such a good time on Sunday, they decided to come back for round two today. Chris was a little upset that he had to work and wasn't able to make it back. The bite was a bit different today and lots of smaller fish were biting short and stealing baits. Still managed to pick up a couple of slot fish and bring back enough to fill a freezer. Final tally for 5 hours of fishing came out to be 39 blues and channel cats to 15 lbs, 1 sandbass and several gar. Just about all of the fish were caught on fresh gizzard shad with a good dose of Dead Red Blood Spray. We also got to try out the new Sudden Impact bait from Team Catfish when the blue cat bite slowed down. It pulled it off in the last hour to put quite a few more channel cats in the box to wrap up the trip. It's really a unique bait and I can't wait to spend a little more time trying it out. Here are some pics from today's trip.

The Salas family fished with me for their second time. Back in the winter it was 27 degrees when we left the ramp. Luckily it was a bit warmer this time. The winds were swift and the lake was a bit rough, but we managed to hide from it a bit and still put a bunch of fish in the box. They finished up the 5-hour trip with 150 lbs of fish including 50 nice blues and channel cats followed up by 6 sandbass. Only caught one slot fish today that weighed about 13 lbs. Despite the rough conditions it still turned out to be a great morning on the lake. All fish were caught on fresh cut shad with Dead Red Blood Spray fished on Carolina rigs fished 2 to 10 feet deep.

Nice hauls there Bobby. I went to the Team Catfish website and ordered some bait and tackle from them. I also watched that video of the trip they made with you and was pretty impressed!
